Day 1

Training Agenda for 1st Day

Session 1 : Compelling Speaking Essentials

The key to compelling speaking is to erase bad habits and embrace a fresh approach. Participants will explore good & bad speaking with powerful real-life examples as well as own experiences.

Principles of Compelling Speaking
Participants will explore mini cases and create real-life examples of good & bad speaking. Based on this, you will learn the first steps in crafting a great message. Based on a pre-work, participants will explore a new approach to creating a business presentation or speech.

Principles you’ll learn:
• How to identify the most important thing in speaking: your goal
• Identify what is important and what to ignore.
• How to develop a clear, focused message for your audience

 

Session 2 : First Speaking Clinic – A Practical Excercise

Highly practical and interactive session where participants draft a first message & get feedback.

• Four ways to define a compelling objective
• How to define expected outcome
• Identify four typical audience types
• How to write to each listeners’ perspective

Session 3: Crafting the Story Flow

The key to getting confidence on stage and in a meeting is having a great storyflow and storyline to tell. In this part we will dissect the messages and craft these compelling storyflow.

Workshop participants will learn how to examine their messages and topics, analyse options, choose a listener- focused strategy, organize their ideas, and communicate powerfully and compellingly.

You’ll learn to use these thinking tools:

• The Storyboard Principle – How to Organize your thoughts and draft a great story flow of your presentation or speech
• Rapid Storyboard creation
• Rapid feedback
•Vertical & horizontal consistence and the “Shark teeth” principle of breadth and depth
• Plan, write, revise, edit – 4-step process to help you think clearly, organize your ideas, focus on your objectives

Session 4 : Delivery Mastery – Slide Design & Visual Aids

Participants complete a series of exercises designed to help them create and draft compelling visuals that support their business needs and speaking objective

Techniques you will learn:

• Impactful slide design
• Why minimalism is a must in presenting
• Alternatives to PowerPoint: WhiteBoard, Prezi & Co

Session 5 : Delivery Mastery – Your body speaks: Mastering great body language

Participants explore powerful body language patterns and principles and apply them directly for their own presentations.

• How to move during a presentation
• How to stand so that your message convey with power
• What to do with these hands?
• How to have powerful eye contact
• How to leverage the power of the voice.

Day 2

Training Agenda for 2nd Day

Session 6 : Practical On-Site Assignment – Practical Presentation

Participants will work on a full-fledged presentation and create their masterpiece based on the topics learned and feedback already received. Participants will do a championship routine for testing their material and get real-life feedback.

 

Session 7 : Speaking in the Virtual World

Many business and government professionals have not only to speak in meetings and maybe at conferences, but also in virtual meetings via for instance MS Teams. In order to be impactful here, we need to learn the key techniques to also excel in the virtual world

Skills you will learn:
• The differences between virtual and offline presentations.
• Key pitfalls to avoid
• How to master digital tools such as MS Teams

Session 8 : Advanced Speaking Techniques

Participants will learn the essential skills of advanced speaking. Once the foundation of great speaking is in place it is time to add advanced strategies that can captivate an audience.

Skills you will learn:

• Rhetorical Devices that truly work
• How to share complex data with power
• Storytelling techniques with lessons from TED and Pixar for your speaking success
• Audience interaction techniques
• Championship Stage preparation

Session 9: Implementation Exercises

Each participant will take the additional lessons learned to incorporate all into their own master pieces of presenting.

Lars will walk you through the writing process and help you apply what you learned.
